Festival of Rugby 2015 will enable events across the country to be part of rugby’s biggest year
- Following the launch of the programme in January, events can now be submitted to become part of the Festival of Rugby through www.festivalofrugby2015.com
- Any event with a link to rugby can join the Festival of Rugby 2015 programme, run between June 10 and October 31, 2015
- Over 2,000 event organisers and event seekers have already registered an interest in hosting or attending events through the Festival of Rugby 2015
- Approved events will have access to the Festival of Rugby 2015 brand and event support and promotion through www.festivalofrugby2015.com
- Event seekers can search for Festival of Rugby events in their area – from choirs to national sports events, everyone can join in to celebrate the game
Launched in January 2015, the Festival of Rugby 2015 is a programme which will allow events and event seekers around the UK to be part of rugby’s biggest year.
Any event that has a link to the game or a rugby theme can be submitted to become part of the Festival of Rugby 2015, hosted between June 10 and October 2015, via the online application at www.festivalofrugby2015.com.
With over 2,000 expressions of interest since January, the programme will join fans and wider communities together, allowing them to celebrate rugby through events hosted across the UK. And with everything from choirs, drama groups, sports groups, rugby clubs, schools and colleges registering their interest there will be something for everyone during Festival of Rugby 2015.Approved events will have access to the Festival of Rugby 2015 brand and online event toolkit, enabling event organisers to create their own t-shirts, bunting, posters, leaflets and stickers and their events will also be profiled and promoted through www.festivalofrugby2015.com. Event seekers can use the postcode facility to find Festival of Rugby 2015 events near to them.
England Rugby 2015 CEO, Debbie Jevans, said “We have been delighted with the initial response to our launch of the Festival of Rugby with over 2,000 expressions of interest from rugby clubs, schools, sports organisations, drama groups and fans. We are now pleased to open online applications at www.festivalofrugby2015.com allowing events to apply to be a part of the festival and event seekers to search for events in their area. Festival of Rugby 2015 is a great way for the nation to celebrate rugby in 2015.

A number of events and organisations have already registered their interest in the Festival of Rugby 2015, including the World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge at the Copper Box Arena at the Olympic Park, the massed performance of ‘The Armed Man’ run by the Voices for Hospices Choir in Kempton Park, and Wallingford RFC ‘Rugfest 2015’. These highlight the broad range and genre of events that will feature in the programme, in line with the Festival’s aim to spread the celebration of rugby far and wide in 2015.
